Hot Day

Back when I was a sophomore in college, I decided to stay the summer in Provo. I remember wondering when it was ever going to get hot enough to go swimming. Growing up in St. George, I was used to 100+ degree weather during the summer. That summer Provo probably averaged somewhere around 90 degrees.

I was nostalgically thinking of those days as I was sweltering in the mid-80 degree heat today. Why did it seem so hot? I guess because there's NO A/C HERE...accept in places like the commissary (the base grocery store). I was very glad to do some grocery shopping in the cool building after a hot and sweaty walk around the track with Kellie and a hot and sticky lunch with Landon at the food court.

When Landon came home from his no-a/c-workday, he decided to set up our slip and slide. Ironically, by the time he got it set up, a cool breeze came in and it cooled down to 70 degrees. This did not stop Jonathan. He likes cold water--even in his baths. We always say that he is a true Icelandic baby.

I love the sunshine. It puts a bounce in my step, but it's a little easier to bear with a/c. How did those pioneers ever do it?
