On Saturday, Jonathan ran in the ING Kids Rock Finisher's Marathon.  In the past eight weeks both Jonathan and Erik ran 25.2 miles.  (Erik isn't old enough to participate in the official race.) Yesterday, Jonathan ran the final mile with 1st graders from all over the city.

Waiting for the race to start.

This is how kids warm-up for a race.

Jonathan just after crossing the finish line.

He was SO excited to get a medal.  That was his sole motivation for running the race!

I am so proud of both Jonathan and Erik.  The race was a great experience and they'll both be participating next year.

The race was at Brackenridge Park which is next to the zoo.  All race participants got a free pass to the zoo that day.

Halloween 2012

This year for Halloween, Jonathan was a pirate, Erik a ninja and Ella an angel.

See Jonathan's little UNICEF Box?  He got it from school and was so excited to Trick-or-Treat for "hungry and thirsty kids."

Since her brothers had swords, Ella wanted one too.  We called her the cherubim with a flaming sword.
She has also just learned how to cheese it for the camera as you can see below.

I had a lot of fun taking the kids out trick-or-treating.  It was cute to see Ella walk up to people and hold out her pumpkin for a piece of candy.  Most people found it adorable because she's so little.  Once in a while she would say a thank you or a bye-bye.

The boys loved tick-or-treating too.  The only thing Erik didn't like was getting so hot.  Finally, I pulled up his mask and found his face drenched in sweat.  Welcome to Texas!

Suckers are by far Ella's favorite candy.
