The One and Only Christmas Market

Between the recital, being sick, and leaving on a cruise for two weeks, we barely had any time to do the regular Christmas activities: baking cookies, caroling, making gingerbread houses, and visiting the various Christmas markets here in Germany.  We only had time to attend one Christmas market; we chose to go to Nuremberg.  The market was HUGE so it was a good choice.

There was a section especially for kids at the Christmas Market with kiddy rides, food and drinks.  Landon took Jonathan on some rides while I walked around with Erik.

The Christmas market was crowded and cold.  Thank goodness for hot apple cider.

We also went to Albrecht Durer's house.  It was fun and informative.  They didn't have any of his original paintings there, but there were some copies.

We also went to the congress hall at the Nazi Party Rally Grounds.  The building looks a lot like the Colosseum in Rome.  It's a museum now.  Something that struck me as odd was a picture I saw of Hilter.  He was standing in the middle of a throng of young women just beaming.  They looked as if they were meeting a celebrity.  The way they were crowded around him made it look like they were swooning after him trying to get his autograph.  It's hard to think that he was once so popular and looked upon as the hope of the future of Germany.  It must have been a shock when they learned the truth.
